Browns DE Myles Garrett calls officiating in Jaguars game a ‘travesty’

The Cleveland Browns came away with a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it was not all sunshine and rainbows for defensive end Myles Garrett. After the game, Garrett made a point to make a statement about his feelings on the state of NFL officiating, particularly from the crew at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

“The officiating was a travesty. … They are letting [the Jaguars] get away with hands to the face, holding, false starts. … They’re not getting called all game. … I respect those guys, they have a hard job. But we have a hard job as well. … We get scrutinized for the plays we don’t make, so someone has to hold them accountable for the calls they don’t make,” Garrett said.

It did not take more than two eyes to see the constant state of harassment Garrett faced from Jacksonville offensive linemen. The officiating crew even missed a false start on a play that ended up in a touchdown for the Jaguars.

Garrett will likely see a fine for his comments, but one would think he sees the long-term effect as more beneficial than the cost of his words.
