Browns Brasserie looks set to return to Cardiff

Browns Brasserie and Bar could be returning to Cardiff after a planning application was submitted to Cardiff council. The restaurant chain used to have a site at The Friary in the city centre until it closed in 2015. However, according to the new planning application the eatery looks set to return to the city in another central location.

A planning application for new signage at the Marriott Hotel on Mill Lane was submitted to Cardiff council on behalf of Browns earlier this month. The application included plans for new signage with the restaurant's name and branding, as well as a battery operated brass menu case. Drawings and plans submitted with the application show plans for the new signing to be on the ground floor of the Marriott Hotel. The restaurant was formerly located in the Friary Centre, where it took over the site of the former Ha! Ha! Bar. The site now houses the Slug and Lettuce.

The restaurant chain has 23 venues all across the UK including several sites in London, as well as Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, and more. Browns offers "classic homemade brasserie fayre" and the restaurant serves a range of menus, including lunch and early evening, bottomless brunch, and afternoon tea.

Dishes vary depending on the location of the restaurant, but include daily market fish, fresh lobster and fillet steak specials and Sunday roasts. Browns also has a drinks menu serving a variety of both classic and signature cocktails as well as more than 20 varieties of Champagne, prosecco and English sparkling wine.
