A pair of evil brothers who ambushed a man and stabbed him to death in a street have been jailed for life.
After knifing Amin Talea twice in the apparently motiveless “planned and premediated” attack they chased after him before he collapsed.
Mohammed and Ridhwaan Farouk were jailed for life yesterday and must serve a minimum of 24 years behind bars before being considered for parole.
Ridhwaan, 19, and Mohammed, 21, had denied murder, but were found guilty after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
Mr Talea was found fatally injured by two passers-by in Kings Norton around 9pm on October 1 last year, according to Birmingham Live.
The brother had caught a taxi from Risborough House in Turves Green to Overbury Road, before lying in wait and after emerging from the side of a building attacking Mr Talea outside his flat in Longfellow Road, as he went to meet two of his friends parked in a Volkswagen Golf.
After the attack 20-year-old Mr Talea sought help from two strangers who saw he was bleeding from a significant wound to his abdomen. One of the men called 999.
In passing sentence Judge Melbourne Inman QC said: “Amin was only 20 when you murdered him. He had his life before him. He was well-liked and well thought of by those who knew him.
“No one could fail to be moved by the statement of Amin’s mother nor doubt the depth of her grief and the devastating effect of the loss of her son. This was a planned and premeditated attack.
“You took a taxi to the area where Amin lived. You were armed with at least one knife. Much of what happened was then caught on CCTV. You clearly expected him to leave at about that time. Amin came out of the flats and walked towards the road.
“The two of you immediately ran from some trees and attacked him. Amin managed to run away up the road but you pursued him.
“During the attack Amin was stabbed twice. One blow penetrated his abdomen and cut a main vein taking blood to the heart.
“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services services and emergency operative treatment at hospital it was not possible to save Amin’s life.
“Only you know which of you inflicted the fatal stab wound. It is clear from the evidence the attack lasted only seconds. It is also clear having stabbed him twice you both gave chase in order to inflict yet further injury if you caught him.
“Only you know why you attacked Amin Talea. On the proceeding Sunday you Ridhwaan Farouk had asked someone you knew whether she would be willing to pick up a gun for you from Liverpool. She refused.
“It is clear that you were preparing for the attack days before it occurred. You both sought to hide your identities by wearing hoods and one of you was wearing a balaclava.
“This was an attack in the early evening in a residential area of the city. You have disposed of evidence.
“The knife or knives have never been recovered, nor has the jacket you were wearing Mohammed Farouk. Neither of you have shown any remorse for what you did.”
He said he could not be sure they had intended to kill the victim and that neither had previous convictions.
