The brother of a Mayo GAA star and a young woman have been named locally as the victims of a tragic double car crash.
Brian Mullin from Kilmaine in Mayo - the oldest brother of Senior star Oisin - and Sharon Ryan, understood to be well-known in Galway sporting circles, were both killed in Limerick on Sunday in a car and van collision at Patrickswell at around 9.30pm.
Both victims, in their 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene and the occupants of the van, a man and woman in their 20s and an infant, were rushed to the hospital but are not seriously injured - GalwayBeo reports.

Brian had tragically just celebrated his birthday on Saturday less than 24 hours before his untimely death.
Sharon was heavily involved in Kilkerrin/Clonberne Ladies Gaelic Football Club in the area of Strength and Conditioning and was also Owner and Head Coach of Phoenix Fitness 247 in the Ballinasloe area of Galway.
Her former employer HQ Gym Health and Wellness in Tuam paid tribute to Sharon telling Galway Beo: "She was a wonderful, beautiful person. We're just devastated, she will be missed."
A Gardaí spokesperson explained: “The occupants of the car, a man and woman both aged in their 30s, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their bodies have been removed to University Hospital Limerick.
“The occupants of the van, a man and woman in their 20s and a male infant, were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment but are believed to be uninjured at this time. The road is currently closed for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local Diversions are in place.”
Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses as they continued: “Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
"Any road users who were travelling in the area and who may have camera (including dash cam) footage is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
