A Brookside superfan said he is "buzzing" for the show to return to TV screens for the first time in 20 years.
Today it was announced all the original episodes of Brookside will finally return to the small screen – streaming for free on STV Player, and for fans, it has been a long time coming. In 2007 a five-year campaign was started by Lee Brady and friend Dan Burton to get 16 episodes released on DVD.
However, with only a handful of episodes to watch in the last 11 years, Lee said that for fans being able to re-watch the popular soap from the start is a "dream come true".

Speaking to the ECHO he said: "There are some episodes of the show that I have never seen and the quality on YouTube is not great. So this is a massive deal for fans of the show.
"We can watch episodes from the start and get to know all the characters again. It was so much better in the early days, it went downhill towards the end but I still enjoyed it."
Lee said he fell in love with the show as a child in the 90s and remembers spending Saturday afternoons watching the omnibus with his family and cites lovable rouge Jimmy Corkhill as his favourite character.
Lee, 36, said: "I think the first storyline I watched was with Nicky Shadwick and Luke Musgrove. I was gutted that it ended and now it's returning after 20 years. I thought the story was great and I took to the characters and everyone had their own story."
Lee and Dan campaigned tirelessly to get their cherished soap to DVD. The pair set up a fan page and launched a petition which was signed by more than 5,000 people and was supported by many of the actors including Dean Sullivan, Louis Emerick, and Suzanne Collins.
Lee, from Huyton, said: "Fans have been crying out for this for years and we all thought we could have got it on Netflix. Hopefully, it gets a new generation of fans for the show. Maybe we could get a new special in a few years. Would love to see how Jimmy is getting on now. That would be boss."
