Brookside Mick Johnson star's message on show's birthday leaves fans in disbelief

Brookside viewers were in disbelief as Louis Emerick marked the show's landmark birthday.

The actor played Mick Johnson on the iconic Channel 4 programme from 1989 - 2001. The shop-keeper and taxi driver was a key part of famous storylines such as when he was stalked by Jenny Swift and a euthanasia storyline with his mother-in-law, Gladys.

Channel 4 arrived on the airwaves on this day 40 years ago. Brookside's first episode aired on the channel that day and Louis has taken to Twitter to celebrate the special day.

He said: "Good morning all Happy @Ballstocancer #Happy40thbirthday2Brooky from Mick Johnno." Louis regularly shares updates of the Balls To Cancer charity as his brother Jimmy sadly died last year.

Louis hails from Toxeth and regularly shares updates of his life on social media. He is a huge Liverpool FC supporter and regularly shares posts reacting to Jurgen Klopp's side's latest results.

Fans flooded the Brookside birthday post in disbelief as they couldn't believe it had been 40 years since the show first aired.

Natasha said: "Is it 40 years? I still wish they would bring it back I keep saying that to Mr Mac bring it back."

@PhyrneD tweeted : "40th? NOOOOOOOOO! I can't be THAT old! Happy birthday, Brookside.

Roisin commented: "Wow 40yrs"
