Brooks Koepka bites back at LIV Golf snipers as fans hit with 'creative' demand as he closes in on US PGA history

Brooks Koepka has fired back at booing fans at the US PGA Championship as he closes in on becoming the first LIV Golf star to win a Major.

A brilliant third round 66 in the Rochester rain gave the four-time Major winner a one-stroke lead from Norway’s Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners of Canada as he goes into the final day on six-under par. However, that hasn't stopped the leader receiving a frosty reception on the course as both Koepka and fellow LIV star Bryson DeChambeau were booed by the crowd for joining the controversial breakaway circuit.

LIV Golf has faced a host of criticism for breaking the status quo in the world of professional golf, but also due to the controversial funding from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. However, Koepka - who has won two US Opens and two US PGA titles - was in no mood to discuss the response from those around the green as he geared up for the final round.

Some of the jibes from the stand surround the popular American sports podcast 'Pardon My Take' who suspended Koepka from the annual "Blake of the Year" competition after he joined LIV Golf. Punters could be heard shouting "Blake of the Year" following his shots on day three.

Asked about the 'Blake of the Year' taunt, Koepka said: "I always like getting that one. That's a good one. I didn't hear too many chirps - not many creative ones.

"It's just repetitive honestly. I'm not trying to dog the fans but i enjoy when they are creative and there is something funny. That's usually the one that sticks out."
