Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have admitted they are more than happy competing with LIV Golf, despite having the chance to make a potential return to the PGA Tour.
The Tour ended its 12-month dispute with LIV Golf earlier this month, after signing an agreement with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia that will see the two rival circuits worked under one entity. Following the shock announcement, further framework has been released on the proposed deal.
The document submitted to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, outlines a possible route back to both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour for LIV players, despite being previously handed suspensions and sanctions.
This will no doubt have been music to the ears of a number of stars, who have been unable to play both Tour schedules since their move. Two who seem less keen though are the breakaway circuit's biggest names in Johnson and Koepka.
The American pair enjoyed quite the career on the PGA Tour, winning 33 titles between them. The prospect of returning to the American-based circuit under the new merger however, is something that does not excite two-time major winner Johnson.
Discussing the uncertain future of golf at LIV Andalucia this week, he said: "I'm excited for the future. I think with this agreement, the only thing that's going to happen is LIV is going to get even better than what it is now, which it's already great.
"I'm happy exactly where I am, and I'm definitely not looking to play more golf than I'm playing now, that's for sure." A Similar - albeit slightly more apprehensive - approach by Koepka was taken, with the newly crowned PGA Champion more than comfortable playing his golf on the breakaway circuit.
"I've been pretty happy with my decision to be here at LIV, I've enjoyed it," he added. "I'm not going to speak for everybody else, but I would say everybody is pretty excited, and everybody is pretty happy with where they're at right now.
"It's tough to look into the future and say - I don't have any control over what other guys do, but I know I'm happy where I'm at right now, and just take it one day at a time." It still remains to be seen what the new deal means for all three circuits and its schedules. Following the announcement PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan revealed the goal of the agreement was to create a 'new era in global golf, for the better'.
