Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper: Which is the best cooling mattress for you?

Image shows the Nectar Premier Copper mattress on the left and the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Deluxe mattress on the right.

In this Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper mattress comparison, we’ll look beneath the covers of each brand's top-rated cooling beds to help you pick the right one for your sleep needs and budget.

Both brands are among our top recommendations for this year's best mattresses for every sleeper. Particularly if you experience night sweats and overheating in bed. Both offer plenty of features to help regulate temperature, along with cushioning comfort to reduce pressure points along the body.

Of course, there are some key differences when comparing the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper mattresses, including price. At full MSRP the Aurora Luxe starts at $600 cheaper than the Premier Copper, but the current 40% off Nectar sale actually makes the Nectar cheaper in many sizes.

Let’s take a closer look at how these top-rated cooling mattresses stack up, and what type of discounts we can expect from each in this year's Labor Day mattress sales and deals.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper Mattress: Price & trial

  • Brooklyn Bedding typically offers a discount of 25% to 30%
  • Nectar Sleep has been running an up to 40% off sale all year
  • Nectar's trial is 365 nights vs 120 nights at Brooklyn Bedding

Although the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe's starting MSRP is lower, the Nectar Premier Copper becomes the cheaper option as sizes increase. At full MSRP there’s very little between them when we reach queen size, with the Brooklyn Bedding coming in at $2,265 and the Nectar at $2,249.

It's probably better, though, not to worry too much about MSRP and concentrate on the after-sale prices, as both brands run evergreen sales.

The Brooklyn Bedding mattress sales means you’ll always get between 25-30% off full price. As we write, there’s 25% off all sizes with the code SUMMER25, taking a queen down to $1,698.80 with the cooling Cloud Pillow top (more on that later) included.

This isn’t the biggest discount we’ve seen, however. The Aurora Luxe is sometimes discounted by 30%, allowing you to pick up a queen for $1,305.50. If you’re not in a hurry for a new mattress, you may want to hold on and save a little more.

There’s always a monthly Nectar mattress sale offering discounts too, although the Premier Copper is usually discounted by either 25% with a free bedding bundle, or 33% with a heavily discounted bedding bundle. This generally puts a queen size mattress at $1,499.

Under the current 40% off sale a queen is reduced to $1,399, while the heavily discounted bedding bundle is $159 for a queen package (was $599).

In terms of extras, Nectar Sleep offers a 365-night trial and forever warranty, compared to a 120-night trial and a 10-year warranty from Brooklyn Bedding. Both offer free shipping, but Brooklyn Bedding charges a $99 returns fee. Nectar Sleep returns are free.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper Mattress: Materials & design

  • The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is a 13” hybrid
  • The Nectar Premier Copper is a 14” hybrid
  • Both use specialist materials and technology to help with cooling

Featuring in our best hybrid mattress guide, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is, as the name suggests, a luxury mattress made from a combination of coils and foams. At the top of the mattress is a GlacioTex smooth weave cooling cover; GlacioTex is a technical fabric that’s known for its abilities to keep sleepers cool.

Up next is an optional Cloud Pillow Top, adding more cooling fibers and extra comfort, followed by a layer of CopperFlex foam. This, as the name suggests, is infused with copper to boost temperature regulation and add antibacterial qualities.

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe comes in your choice of three firmness ratings - soft, medium and firm. The option you select makes a slight difference in the next few layers.

We’re concentrating on the medium firmness here, which includes two inches of medium memory foam and an inch of gel swirl memory foam.

Beneath this, you’ll find a layer of eight-inch individually encased coils, which places firmer coils around the edge for additional support. Finally, there’s a high-density foam base.

The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is made up of five layers. A poly-blend cover made of polyethylene and copper fibers is cool to the touch and designed to help wick away heat.

Directly underneath this is a four-inch layer of high-density gel memory foam infused with phase change materials. These are designed to adapt to your body temperature to keep you cool, while the foam contours to your body shape.

Underneath is a one-inch layer of soft transition foam, followed by eight inches of individually wrapped innerspring coils with reinforced edge support. At the bottom is a layer of high-density support foam and a shift-resistant lower cover with handles.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper Mattress: Comfort & support

  • The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe comes in three firmness ratings
  • The Nectar Premier Copper is a medium firm mattress
  • Both are hybrid mattresses (foam and coils)

In our Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress review we tested the medium firmness mattress and rated it at 5/10 in terms of softness. It's a great pick for side sleepers, with plenty of cozy comfort and sinkage. Adding the Cloud Pillow Top provides a more undulating, soft and bouncy padded surface, for even more cradling of pressure points.

The Aurora Luxe's medium premium memory foam is very effective at preventing the spine from sinking out of alignment, but features enough contouring to alleviate pressure points. It’s a dream for side sleepers, molding to the body and cushioning around the hips and shoulders.

Back sleepers should enjoy its medium firmness as well. We rate the Aurora Luxe as one of the best mattresses for back pain because all of the foams and coils within help to prevent aches and pains.

In our Nectar Premier Copper mattress review, our testers rated the Nectar Premier Copper as a similarly great mattress for side sleepers. Although it's available in an all-foam memory foam version, we’re concentrating on the hybrid version here.

Many of the best mattresses for side sleepers are hybrids, with the combination of foams and coils offering the ideal level of support and comfort. We rated the Nectar a 6/10, with the foam adapting to the contours of the body, cushioning the hips and shoulders and reducing pressure.

It does take a little bit of time for the Premier Copper to ‘give’ and provide the ideal amount of contouring but once it had bedded in, as it were, our testers found it ideal for side sleeping.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper: Temperature control

  • The Aurora Luxe has a GlacioTex cooling cover, plus cooling foams
  • The Premier Copper uses copper and phase change materials to wick away heat
  • Both mattresses do an excellent job of keeping sleepers cool

Providing cooling in slightly different ways, both the Aurora Luxe and Premier Copper deserve their places in our guide to the best cooling mattresses. The Aurora Luxe has a GlacioTex cover that’s designed to be cold to the touch and remove excess heat from the surface of the mattress.

It’s incredibly good at temperature control, but is slightly annoying because its glossy surface tends to make fitted sheets slide around on top of it. The Aurora Luxe also utilizes dynamic cooling foam along with copper- and gel-infused memory foam.

The Nectar Premier Copper’s cover does a great job of cooling sleepers down, with a polyethylene and copper blend that’s cool to the touch. This excels at wicking away body heat and regulating body temperature. It’s backed up by gel memory foam infused with phase change materials, adapting to your body temperature to keep you cool.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe vs Nectar Premier Copper Mattress: Which should you buy?

Buy the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe if…

You want customization options: We’ve focused on the medium firmness mattress here but you can also choose a soft or firm variety, meaning this mattress will suit a wide range of body types and sleeping styles.

You want cloud-like comfort: With the addition of the Cloud Pillow Top, the Aurora Luxe offers plush support without losing any support from the coil layer.

You want a twin mattress: The twin size Aurora Luxe is considerably cheaper than the same size Nectar at full MSRP, so it's worth snapping up for a guest or child’s room.

Buy the Nectar Premier Copper if…

You’re a dedicated side sleeper: At 6 out of 10, the Premier Copper is ideal for side sleepers, with plenty of cushioning comfort and pressure relief around the shoulders and hips.

You share your bed with a restless partner: With its softer feel, the Nectar absorbs motion effectively and is ideal for those co-sleeping with a frequently-moving bedmate. In contrast, the Aurora Luxe performed extremely poorly in our motion transfer tests.

You want a durable mattress: Customer reviews say that the Premier Copper shows no signs of indents or dips after a year or more of use, with the surface still looking pristine. With a yearlong trial period and a lifetime warranty, you’ll also be able to get any problems fixed easily.
