Brooklyn Beckham has hit back at online speculation about potential marriage woes after he was spotted leaving a restaurant alone.
The 23-year-old, who is the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham, was spotted dining at Cecconi's West Hollywood with his wife Nicola Peltz on Sunday. However, the star was later photographed sitting alone on the curb while he waited for his car.
After the photos emerged, fans thought there may be trouble in paradise among the newlyweds, especially as Nicola, 27, is reportedly embroiled in a nasty feud with her mother-in-law Victoria, 48. Now, the couple have clarified the situation and poked fun at the rumours on social media.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Brooklyn reshared a post by Nicola shared a blurry picture of herself as she appeared to be leaving the same restaurant. Alongside the snap, she wrote: "When you exit out the alley to avoid the paps and do it well enough that they think @brooklynpeltzbeckham left alone." Brooklyn added: "Don't believe everything you read."
The rumours come after proud mum Victoria congratulated her son on a recent joint interview and photoshoot with his Bates Motel star wife but failed to mention her daughter-in-law. Sharing an image from Brooklyn and Nicola's Vogue Hong Kong spread, Posh wrote: "So proud!!!" while tagging just her eldest son and the publication.
According to reports, the distance between the in-laws stemmed from claims Nicola never intending to wear a dress by Victoria Beckham to rumours the bride stormed out of her wedding after Posh 'stole her first dance song. Amid the ongoing speculation about the downfall of their once incredibly close relationship, Victoria is reported to be 'heartbroken' as her fallout with Nicola has caused 'significant strain' on her relationship with son Brooklyn.
The former Spice Girls singer is concerned about how her 'rift' with Nicola will affect her bond with Brooklyn. The mum-of-four is said to be 'distraught and fearful', according to Mail Online.
Sources have claimed it's been 'very difficult' for the former Spice Girl to watch her son grow close to Nicola's family. "I think it's very difficult for Victoria, coming from a tight-knit family, to see her son grow close to his in-laws," they said to new! magazine.
Brooklyn and Nicola recently addressed the feud rumours, something which reportedly left Victoria and her husband David 'open-mouthed'. Brooklyn said 'everyone gets along,' whilst his wife suggested the rumour had begun when she didn't wear the wedding dress designed by Victoria for their nuptials in April this year.
It's been claimed the interview hasn't gone down well with his parents, with it said to go against their philosophy when it comes to unfavourable stories written about them. A source told Heat: "The interview left David and Victoria open-mouthed. They're seeing it as an attention-seeking stunt and they now need to figure out where to go from here."
