Brooklyn Beckham 'in heaven' working as chef after 'pressure' to find career

Brooklyn Beckham is "in heaven" working as a chef after trying his hand at a few different jobs over the years. Nicola Peltz, the new Mrs Beckham, has been opening up about being a wife and her husband's passion about cooking - after he felt "a lot of pressure to please people with his career".

The actress, 27, married Brooklyn in a lavish multimillion pound ceremony on her family's huge Florida estate earlier this year. She appears as the cover star for the new edition of Tatler magazine, where she's been spilling the beans on the wedding, newlywed life and her other half's career plans.

Brooklyn, 23, has tried out a number of different roles as he made his way into adulthood and previously dabbled with modelling and photography. Transformers star Nicola told the publication about her husband's new-found love of cooking - which developed during the COVID-19 quarantine, as reports Mail online.

'Ever since the pandemic, all he's wanted to talk about is being in the kitchen, so I just started filming him one day, I said, "This is what you love,"' she explained. Brooklyn has faced criticism for his jobs so far and was slammed when he got the cooking show, because of the fact he's had no professional training.

That comes after he was mocked online by followers when he decided he wanted to become a photographer at the age of 16, following a modelling stint in 2014. He photographed a campaign for Burberry BRIT, but was slammed by various well-known snappers for his work and in 2017 he told fans he was enrolling in the Parsons School of Design at the New School in New York, but he left one year later because he "missed" his family.

His photography book, What I see, was released the same year and in 2019 he moved to an internship with Rankin, after the iconic photographer became impressed with a photo he had taken of Sir David Attenborough in Africa.

The Mail reported he was said to have left his colleagues stunned over his 'lack of basic skills' during his internship with Rankin.

Nicola also revealed Brooklyn has been getting advice from her billionaire businessman father Nelson Peltz.

She added: 'I watch him call my dad and say, "What do you think about this?" I love watching him learn from my dad.'

Now he has set his sights on cooking, Brooklyn has faced criticism for his lack of training when he posts videos to social media.

He didn't seem to know how to fry a fish in one clip and asked how to know when a hash brown has been fried enough in another.

The Mail also reports he was also accused of spending an excessive $100,000 per eight-minute episode on his show, with a source stating: 'It's unheard of. It's the sort of crewing you would expect on a big TV show.'

Back in October, Brooklyn landed himself in the middle of a furious foodie frenzy after he participated in one of the Today show's live cooking segments - during which he simply 'assembled a sandwich.'

There was also uproar when he appeared on the Today Show to cook an English Breakfast sandwich, with many viewers slamming the show for having him on to make such a simple dish.

And he was blasted when he appeared on James Cordon's Late Late Show to cook up a storm, with viewers blasting his appearance on the show hosted by his mum and dad's pal as 'nepotism at its finest.'

He was also slated fo filming a segment with Nicola for Vogue's YouTube channel, in which the couple made a pizza together.

After he shared the clip to his Instagram, he received a barrage of criticism, with one saying: "Weren’t you cosplaying at being a photographer? Now a chef? Straight to Vogue.. no 60-hour weeks in a hot kitchen for you."

Another added: "What is it this time? Apeanut butter and jelly? Hard boiled egg? Soup from a can?"

The August issue of Tatler is available on newsstands and via digital download on Thursday, June 30.
