Following his stellar performance in Denver’s 24-22 upset over the Buffalo Bills, Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Against the Bills, Mims provided productivity to Denver’s special teams unit.
Mims totaled 75 combined return yards (44 punt return yards, 31 kickoff return yards), including two returns for 25 yards or more. With Mims providing production with 17-, 27-, and 31-yard returns, he gave the Broncos’ offense starting field position at the Denver 39-yard line or better all three times. With a performance like that, it’s easy to see how Mims got Player of the Week recognition.
Mims has served as the team’s primary kick and punt returner this season, and the Broncos currently lead the league in both kickoff (33.6) and punt (20.7) return average. In the kickoff forum, he has recorded six kickoff returns of 20-plus yards, including a 99-yard return touchdown in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins.
