Broncos trade TE Albert Okwuegbunam to Eagles for late-round draft pick

Stories develop — and change — quickly during NFL roster cuts.

Earlier today, reports emerged that the Denver Broncos were waiving tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. That was the plan, if a trade did not materialize.

Before the deadline (2 p.m. MT on Tuesday) to set a 53-man roster, the Broncos received interest from the Philadelphia Eagles for a trade.

Denver and Philly ended up working out a deal that will see “Albert O” land with the Eagles instead of hitting the waiver wire.

Philly is sending a 2025 sixth-round draft pick to the Broncos in exchange for Okwuegbunam and a 2025 seventh-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Okwuegbunam has shown flashes of potential as a receiving tight end in Denver, but he has struggled as a blocker. The fourth-year tight end will now get a fresh start with the Eagles and the Broncos will move forward with Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich and Chris Manhertz as their top tight ends.
