Brock Bowers had an extremely productive career as a tight end for the University of Georgia. In three years, he collected 175 passes for 2538 yards and 26 receiving touchdowns, along with five on the ground. Bowers, a three-time All-American, is considered the best tight end in this year’s NFL draft.
As Bowers has entered his name to turn pro, one writer believes his landing spot will be in Denver. In his latest NFL mock draft for The Athletic, Dane Brugler has the Denver Broncos selecting Bowers with the 12th overall pick, which could be seen as a franchise-changing move.
“[I]t is tough to figure out exactly what the Broncos’ plan will be if they’re unable to trade up for one of the top four QB prospects,” Brugler wrote on TheAthletic.com. “One trade I almost proposed here had the Broncos moving back and selecting Bo Nix later in Round 1.”
Quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy (No. 7), Jayden Daniels (No. 3), Drake Maye (No. 2), and Caleb Williams (No. 1) went off the board before Denver went on the clock at No. 12.
With all those QBs off the board, Brugler predicted the Broncos would stay put and land a play-making tight end. It’s easy to imagine Bowers making big plays in Sean Payton’s offense.
