Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie outside linebacker Jaylon Allen, No. 57.
Before the Broncos: Allen (6-3, 240 pounds) spent five years at Memphis, earning honorable mention All-AAC recognition in 2022 and second-team all-conference honors in 2023. Allen recorded 150 tackles (26.5 behind the line), 13 sacks, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, two defensive touchdowns and one interception in 60 games with the Tigers.
Broncos tenure: Denver signed Allen as a college free agent following the 2024 NFL draft. Allen was a defensive lineman at Memphis, but he will play as an outside linebacker in Vance Joseph’s base 3-4 defense.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. The Broncos have a crowded OLB room that includes Baron Browning, Jonathon Cooper, Nik Bonitto, Jonah Elliss, Ronnie Perkins and (once healthy) Drew Sanders. Allen is unlikely to make the active roster as a rookie, but he could be a candidate for the practice squad as a backup pass rusher.
