Broncos rookies get jersey numbers: Zach Wilson gives 10 to Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos announced jersey numbers for the incoming rookies on Thursday. The new jersey numbers also came with a few changes to some of the new incoming players.

According to the Broncos website, here are the numbers for the team’s seven drafted rookies:

Bo Nix: 10 (originally held by Zach Wilson)

Jonah Elliss: 52

Troy Franklin: 16

Kris Abrams-Draine: 31

Audric Estime: 37

Devaughn Vele: 81

Nick Gargiulo: 66

The rookie numbers also necessitated some changes to pre-existing jersey numbers for some other Broncos. Previously, quarterback Zach Wilson had been given the number 10, but he graciously gave the number to incoming quarterback Bo Nix, who wore it in college, according to the Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson. Wilson changed from 10 to the number 4, which quarterback Jarrett Stidham wore in 2023. Stidham changed from 4 to 8 in the offseason.

Missouri cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine took former Denver safety Justin Simmons’ 31, and wide receiver Devaughn Vele took Tim Patrick’s old 81 jersey.
