Statistically, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is having a huge bounce-back season under new head coach Sean Payton.
Last year, Wilson threw 12 touchdown passes in 13 games under former head coach Nathaniel Hackett (Wilson missed two games due to injury and Hackett was fired with two games remaining). Overall, Wilson had 16 touchdowns in 15 games last fall.
This year, through eight games, Wilson has already thrown 16 touchdown passes, fourth-most in the NFL. Sunday marked the second time this season that Wilson threw TD passes and no interceptions. That was the 31st time he’s done that in his career (fourth-most in the league since 2012).
Wilson has completed 66.1% of his passes for 1,613 yards while adding 201 yards on the ground. Earlier this year, Wilson became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 5,000 yards and pass for 40,000 yards in his career.
Wilson is one of just four quarterbacks who have thrown three touchdown passes with no interceptions in multiple games this season. Here’s a quick look at the top-five leaders in touchdown passes midway through the 2023 campaign.
