Broncos had a virtual pre-draft visit with DT Cameron Young

The Denver Broncos had a virtual pre-draft visit with Mississippi State defensive lineman Cameron Young last month, according to The Draft Network’s Justin Melo.

Young (6-3, 304 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 5.1 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.8 seconds at the NFL combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Young to Abry Jones, who had a nine-year career in the NFL after going undrafted in 2013.

As a senior last fall, Young totaled 37 tackles (three behind the line), one pass breakup and one sack in 13 games. In four seasons with the Bulldogs, Young recorded 110 tackles (nine behind the line), four pass breakups, two sacks and one interception in 34 games.

If selected by the Broncos, Young would likely play primarily as a nose tackle in the team’s 3-4 defense, but he could also line up as a defensive end. Young is projected to be a late-round pick or undrafted free-agent prospect later this month.

Denver’s final pick is currently set to be No. 195 overall in the sixth round. Here is the team’s full order of picks for the draft.
