The Denver Broncos are expected to sign offensive lineman Ben Powers to a four-year contract, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. It will be a $52 million contract with $28.5 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Powers will earn an average of $13 million per season in Denver. The deal will not become official until the NFL’s new league year begins on Wednesday afternoon.
Powers (6-4, 338 pounds) entered the league as a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. After being inactive for most of his rookie season, Powers won a starting job in 2020 and went on to start 36 games over the last three seasons.
As a 17-game starter last year, Powers was credited with allowing 1.5 sacks, according to STATS LLC, but he did not commit any penalties.
Powers will likely start at one of the team’s two guard spots across from Quinn Meinerz. With Garett Bolles at left tackle and Powers and Meinerz at guard, Denver now has to address center and right tackle.
The Broncos helped create salary cap space for Powers when they released guard Graham Glasgow last Friday, a move that created $11 million in additional cap space for the 2023 season.
