The Denver Broncos defeated the Minnesota Vikings 21-20 in a Sunday Night Football showdown in Week 11. With the win, Denver improved to 5-5 and kept its playoff hopes alive.
Denver’s defense started the game with a takeway when outside linebacker Baron Browning forced a Josh Dobbs fumble that was recovered by cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian. Set up with good field position, the Broncos went on to kick a field goal to take a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter.
The Vikings later went up 7-3 in the second quarter after Dobbs made an impressive play to find Josh Oliver on a three-yard touchdown pass. After Minnesota added a field goal to make it 10-3, Denver later kicked a pair of field goals to make it 10-9 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Dobbs rushed for a 10-yard touchdown to increase the Vikings’ lead to 17-9. The Broncos added a field goal in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 17-12.
Denver later kicked yet another field goal after a McMillian interception to reduce the deficit to 17-15. Minnesota then matched that field goal to make it 20-15.
Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson then led a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton. After failing a two-point attempt, Denver led 21-20 with just over one minute remaining. The Vikings went on to turn the ball over on downs, sealing the game.
Up next for the Broncos is another home game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12.
