Broncos bring back WR Brandon Johnson on the practice squad

Six weeks after waiving him from their injured reserve list with an injury settlement, the Denver Broncos are bringing back rookie wide receiver Brandon Johnson.

The Broncos signed Johnson to their practice squad on Tuesday, the team announced. To make room for the receiver on the 16-player practice squad, Denver released tight end Dalton Keene.

In order for Johnson to be eligible to return this season after being placed on IR before the 53-man roster was set, the Broncos had to cut him last month. The receiver ended up clearing waivers and after sitting out the allotted time for his injury recovery, he is now eligible to play again.

Johnson will begin on the practice squad and he can be elevated to the game-day roster three times during the season without having to clear waivers in order to return to the practice squad after each game.

After impressing in preseason with five receptions and 75 yards receiving yards, Johnson will now give Denver more depth at receiver after recovering from his ankle injury.
