People living beside an old college in Chilwell have said it is a shame to see it vandalised. Parents have been urged to keep their children away from the former Nottingham College site in High Road due to it being unsafe.
Issuing the message on Thursday, June 2, Beeston Police said: "Could parents and carers please ensure their children do not go onto the grounds of the old college building on Chilwell High Road. Due to recent vandalism and criminal damage the building is considered a very dangerous and unsafe place."
A number of windows are damaged at the derelict building, which is subject to plans for student flats, and nearby residents believe it is a result of the reported vandalism. Debbie Smith, whose house backs on to the former college, said: "I haven't seen anything happen but I've seen the broken glass. It is a shame as they must have spent a lot of money on it."

The 57-year-old German teacher added: "You hear stuff at night. It's a whole building going to waste." Keith Benniston, 74, who lives next door, said: "Windows are broken at the front of the college, but kids will go in. When I hear something I just assume it's something to do with the building works."
An elderly man, who worked at the college, also said that it was a shame that the vandalism was happening. "It was a beautiful building," said the man, who wished to remain anonymous.
The police spokesperson added: "The main gates to the rear of the property are locked. Unfortunately, this has led to the front of the building being targeted.. There is security at the premises but not 24 hours. The beat team and response officers are aware of the issues, it has become a local hot spot for us to attend."
