Brock Purdy's emergence as starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers couldn't have gone any better, and the youngster once dubbed 'Mr Irrelevant' has been compared to Tom Brady by fans after hitting another milestone in just his fourth start.
Purdy started his fourth straight game on Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers faced the Las Vegas Raiders. The 49ers, who are 11-4, have already clinched the NFC West.
The young quarterback, who was selected as the 199th pick in the 2022 NFL draft and given the nickname 'Mr Irrelevant', threw a touchdown early on against the Raiders, connecting first with Brandon Aiyuk before slinging another clean pass to George Kittle.
Purdy has played five straight games with multiple touchdown passes, tied for the second-longest streak by a rookie quarterback since 1970. Justin Herbert played seven straight games with multiple touchdown passes in 2020, the longest record for a rookie.
Purdy wasn't supposed to start for the 49ers this season but was thrust into the starting spot due to injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.
Since then, he's overseen three straight wins, with the 49ers going into Sunday's game against the Raiders on an eight-game win streak.
