A family in South Carolina is desperately seeking help in locating Zelig Williams, a talented Broadway dancer who has been missing for nearly two weeks. Williams, known for his performances in New York productions of 'Hamilton' and 'MJ The Musical,' was last seen on October 3 in Columbia.
According to reports, Williams left his home and shortly after an automatic emergency notification was sent from his iPhone to friends. Despite attempts to reach out, there was no response from Williams. His car was later found abandoned but undamaged in an isolated parking lot for the Palmetto Trail, located about 15 miles from downtown Columbia.
Family members revealed that Williams may have stopped taking his medication before his disappearance, raising concerns about his well-being. They fear he may be behaving erratically or could appear in a trance-like state to those trying to assist him.
Law enforcement officials, including Sheriff Leon Lott, emphasized the importance of community tips in the search for Williams. Deputies have not ruled out any possibilities, including foul play, in the case.
Williams, who had recently returned to his hometown of Columbia, was described as a source of light for his family. His mother, who expressed deep anguish over her son's disappearance, highlighted the emotional significance of his dancing, which was inspired by the loss of his two sisters in a tragic car accident.
Colleagues from the Broadway community, including actor Hugh Jackman, have joined the efforts to locate Williams. Jackman, who worked with Williams on 'The Greatest Showman' tour, shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing love and prayers for Williams' safe return.
The family's plea for assistance and the outpouring of support from the theater community underscore the urgency of finding Zelig Williams and bringing him back home to his loved ones.
