RISC-V, an open-source alternative to ARM, is gaining traction as a potential competitor to AVGO in the development of customized hardware. 

This poses a risk to AVGO as it enables any OEM, regardless of size and resources, to create cutting-edge hardware. In response, AVGO has announced its intention to become a stakeholder in a company aimed at advancing the adoption of RISC-V globally.
