The board of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has been criticised over its contribution towards the cost of airing football's World Cup in Thailand, with some saying it gave too little and others too much.

The broadcast agency earmarked 600 million baht from its research and development fund for rights to air the competition, leaving the sports agency to scramble for another 1 billion baht to buy broadcasting rights.
