Brittany Hockley Spills On A Hilarious Dress Code Misunderstanding With A Wedding Guest

Bachelor-star-turned-podcaster Brittany Hockley has spilled the beans on how she accidentally confused a bunch of her wedding guests through a cheeky dress code rule on her invitations.

One thing I thoroughly enjoy about being an Aussie is the ridiculous amount of slang words we use. Some days, I like to see how many random pieces of Aussie-core jargon I can fit into one sentence to confuse my American mutuals online. It’s honestly so much fun.

However, for Bachie star Brittany Hockley, it wasn’t her intention to confuse a bunch of foreign folk with an Aussie word. Especially because these folks will be rocking up for upcoming nuptials with footballer Benjamin Siegrist.

In a TikTok snippet of the Life Uncut Podcast, which she hosts with fellow Bachelor alumn and bestie Laura Byrne, Brittany revealed how she accidentally left a number of her wedding guests scratching their heads over the “what not to wear” part of her wedding invitations.

You see, the soon-to-be-married couple recently sent out their invites. However, soon after they sent them out, Brittany revealed that her fiancé was getting a bunch of messages regarding the dress code.

“[Ben’s] like, ‘Babe I’ve been getting, like, these random messages. People keep asking me about the dress code,'” Brittany recalled.

“What did you put as the dress code?” Laura asked, determined to dig Brittany for tea.

Now, before Brittany can spill the full tea, she reminds her bestie that her football star fiancé is Swiss therefore half the guests are foreigners and not Aussies.

“One of his female friends messages, ‘Hey I just want to follow up about the dress code.’ And he’s like, ‘Yes, what is the problem?'” Brittany began, slowly dripping the juicy part of the hilarious tea.

“And she was like, ‘How strict is it? What if it doesn’t go with my dress?’. I was so confused, I’m sure it’s going to be fine and then she goes, ‘Well I don’t understand how she’s going to know if I wear it. Who in their right mind would make us wear and enforce no thongs.'”

IMMEDIATELY, the Life Uncut girlies (and myself) are. For folks who haven’t caught on, thongs obviously mean flip-flops or sandals for us Aussies, but thongs for the rest of the world equals g strings. SOOOO obviously, it was a ‘yuge miscommunication!

“Ben calls me — ‘Babe, half of the wedding thinks you’ve said they’re not allowed to wear g-strings,'” Brittany laughed.

Fans of the podcast flocked to the comments with a bunch of laughing emojis, whilst others cracked jokes about granny panties and having a security guard at the door checking for thongs.

“Ah yes, in America we call those “flip flops”, and thongs go between your booty cheeks,” one person commented.

“Now you have to have someone doing undies checks at the door,” another joked.

“Granny pants for all,” wrote a third.

Honestly, I feel like it’s a universal experience for every Aussie to accidentally say thongs in a country where thongs mean sexy undies rather than flip-flops.

I think the first time I made that mistake was when I was in the States during a cheeky date. Thankfully, the bloke understood what I was getting at rather than trying to allude to something else. UGH, the second-hand embarrassment kills me thinking about it.

But hey… At least I didn’t chuck it on a wedding invite where it looks like I’m forcing everyone to wear full briefs, I guess?
