Brits who hate unpacking their suitcases can now book someone to do it for them

As anyone with an eye for wrinkles and a concern for the long term health of their clothes will be aware, unpacking, putting away and hanging up is good start of holiday practice.

It can also be a little arduous after a long journey and not the first thing you want to do when the pool and buffet beckons. However a holiday firm is now offering to unpack your bags for you once you've got to the hotel.

Happily holiday-goers headed to the sunny shores of Rhodes and Crete this summer can benefit from the first-ever free-of-charge unpacking service created by holiday operator Eliza was here.

The trial service comes after new research reveals nearly one in five (19%) never unpack, and over three in five (62%) find unpacking to be a complete nuisance.

Nearly half (47%) of holidaymakers admit they don’t unpack as soon as they arrive at their accommodation and only 28% eventually getting around to unpacking at some point during their trip.

Around one in five people say they put off unpacking because they don't want to feel like they're doing chores on holiday, which is very understandable.

A quarter of people in the 35-44-year-old category say they are happy to dip in and out of their cases as and when they need something rather than going through the ordeal of unpacking.

To help Brits kickstart their holiday on a positive note without being mentally weighed-down by the crammed full bag sitting in the hotel room, the unpacking service is being trialled across three accommodations in Greece – White Village Rhodes, Hotel Kouros Rhodes and Avdou Collection Suites Crete.

Martine Langerak, head of communications for Sunweb Group which owns the brand, said: "People are eager to start their holiday as soon as they step off the plane, and we always strive to go the extra mile to help our customers enjoy themselves as much as possible.

"With this in mind, we’re excited to trial our brand-new, first of its kind, unpacking service because it allows our customers to start exploring the beauty Rhodes and Crete as soon as they land.

"At Eliza was here, we’re all about making the most of your holidays and discovering off the beaten track experiences, which is why we have flights, unique stays and car hire in one neat package, so customers can have a stress-free, convenient holiday at a click of a button.”

If you aren't heading to the specific hotels but are concerned about unwieldy bags, then following the advice of award-winning professional organiser, Lucy Mansey, is not a bad idea.

Create a checklist

Before travelling, write down a checklist of everything you might need and therefore want to pack for while you are away. Checking everything off as you pack will ensure you not only don’t forget anything on your way out, but equally that you don’t forget to re-pack anything when you return home.

Unpack as soon as you arrive

If you can’t get someone to do it for you and don’t want to be living out of a suitcase all holiday, set aside 30 mins as soon as you arrive to unpack everything you might need.

Not only will this help you feel more relaxed and organised, but it will ensure you use/wear everything you brought with you.

Be clever with the space you have available

Pack items such as swimwear and underwear into other accessories such as bags and even hats.

Roll your clothes

Not only does this allow you to fit more into your suitcase or bag, but it also means they are less likely to be creased when you unpack and hang them up - giving you more time to spend kicking back by the pool.
