UK holidaymakers visiting some of Europe's most popular resorts this summer are being warned to keep hold of their airline boarding passes to avoid future travel problems. The advice, from a Spanish airlines body, follows reports of passport issues impacting tourists amid Brexit regulations.
Passengers arriving and leaving Spanish airports must now have their passports stamped following the UK's EU exit and this has led to long delays and queues with some travellers even missing flights. Spain’s ALA airlines association warned the summer is looking “complicated” for tourists with multiple issues blamed, including Brexit, according to Spanish media.
Other criticisms were shortages of staff and a lack of training. The airlines association stated: “Brexit has made it more complicated because EU staff need more documentation and accreditations now, and in addition to that, new recruits have to be trained.”
