Brits in hysterics over Americans trying to pronounce Worcestershire sauce

If there's one thing Brits can count on, it's that Americans often struggle to understand our culinary tastes.

Fortunately, we're more than happy to laugh along with our friends across the pond when these mishaps arise - which is a good job as they happen quite often.

From the crisp-filled 'fish and chips' portions to the 'toad in a hole' served with guacamole, there's been no shortage of faux pas over the years. But the latest - and perhaps funniest - misstep to date involves the humble Worcestershire sauce.

A treat for the taste buds, the name of the staple sauce can be quite hard to wrap your tongue around.

Unfortunately for one American, a foodie found this out the hard way after sharing their mistake online. Soon after, the hilarious video was discovered by Brits who have found themselves in stitches over the attempt.

In one popular TikTok shared by @shabazsays, a content creator records himself reacting to the clip, shared by @breeeanaaaaa.

The original clip features an audio clip of a person trying to pronounce the product name correctly, while holding up a bottle of the good stuff.

So far, so good. But the end result was quite different from the correct pronunciation.

Instead, it sounded more like 'roy - sister - sheree' sauce, as @shabazsays was quick to point out.

"I beg your pardon," said the jokester. "Who is sister Sheree?" he added, before asking: "What on God's green earth is Roy sister Sheree sauce?"

In response to the video, which has racked up over a million likes, commenters shared their delight.

"It's the best butchering of the word I've ever heard," read one reply.

A second person said: "Can we be honest though…this is THE BEST pronunciation so far in life." Another replied: "I just barely started started calling it wash your sister sauce, and now my whole life has changed."

And a fourth wrote: "I live in Worcester and have heard Worcestershire Sauce pronounced so many different ways but this is the absolute best.
