In order to spread festive cheer, it's a common tradition that Brits will celebrate Christmas Day with a big feast and Christmas crackers alongside. Families and friends alike will often dive into their turkey dinner with a paper hat on their head and a corny joke to spill.
However, a sketch in a US Christmas movie has left Brits baffled after Americans attempted to enjoy Christmas crackers, but in every wrong way possible. Taking to TikTok, Rachael Price shared a clip from the festive film A Kindhearted Christmas - and was floored by what she saw.
The video shows characters Scott Morris and Jamie Monroe enjoying a festive dinner as they snapped "Christmas crackers from England". However, the scene has left viewers floored as they claim that "no research" was put into the scene.
The clip showed character Scott explain: "Christmas crackers from England - typically you open them before the meal but my parents would make us wait until dessert.
"Let me show you how to do them - so you go in [the end] and find the little tab - and I'll show you right now why they call it a cracker.
"Make sure you squeeze them hard and then on the count of three - everyone pulls at the same time- one, two, three!"
As the characters pulled on the insides of their own crackers, British viewers couldn't believe their eyes and were undeniably confused by the footage.
Captioning the post, Rachael wrote: "Can someone please teach the Americans how to pull a Christmas cracker or to just leave it to us?"
In the clip, which has exceeded a whopping 1.2 million views since posting, the TikToker questioned: "British Christmas crackers - are Americans ok hun?"
One confused viewer questioned: "How did they get them and get it so wrong?"
A second claimed: "Not a single bit of research went into this scene."
A different user insisted: "No one starts eating until everyone is wearing a crown. It's the rules."
A fourth wrote: "So many things wrong with this. You don't wait till dessert and you don't pull your own, you each hold one end. You have to wear the hat while you eat."
