Britons among 3,000 unaccounted for after Nepal-Tibet floods

  • A total of 48 British nationals are reported missing following catastrophic flash floods along the Nepal-China border, triggered by a massive glacier collapse in the Himalayas.
  • At least 903 people have been confirmed dead across Nepal and China, with more than 3,000 people still unaccounted for as rescue operations continue.
  • Chinese authorities reported 261 foreign nationals missing in Tibet, including 15 Britons and 18 Americans, though US officials say at least 85 Americans are missing.
  • Severe weather, landslide risks and remote mountainous terrain are severely complicating search and rescue efforts on both sides of the border.
  • The UK government has pledged £5 million in aid and dispatched a rapid deployment team to the region to support affected citizens and coordinate with local authorities.
