Britney Spears' long-time pal has revealed the jealousy the songstress felt after former flame Justin Timberlake was snapped alongside All Saints star Nicole Appleton following their publicised break-up.
Brit and Justin were the music industry's darlings for some time after beginning to date in 1999. However, their romance ended abruptly after three years amid reports Britney cheated on Justin with her choreographer, Wade Robson.
Things then get uglier when Justin released a video for hit tune Cry Me A River, which features him getting revenge on a woman who has been unfaithful to him, and who looked exactly like Britney.
Speaking to The Mirror, Hollywood make-up artist Julianne Kaye said: " She was very, very, very upset (about the video). Very hurt.
"I think the way he handled it was wrong because she was very hurt by that. It was his way of telling the world his side of the story, which isn't fair because there's two sides to every story."
And speaking of the Gimme More singer's jealousy towards Nicole, Julianne continued: "I knew they had some issues. She had her questions about who he was with because stuff would be out in the press. They were very famous. So he'd be out with some girl from All Saints and she'd get very jealous, you know what I'm saying?”
Julianne was just 23-years-old when she took on the job of a lifetime, accompanying Britney on tours around the world from Europe to Asia.
She struck up a close, almost sisterly, friendship with the star and saw first hand the extraordinary pressure she was under after bursting onto the scene with Baby One More Time in 1998.
She went on to explain how she watched in horror as the singer’s life started to spiral our of control as her mental health deteriorated.
It came as the singer began behaving erratically in 2007 following her divorce from husband Kevin Federline and her eventually losing custody of their two children.
Looking back at the period leading up the Britney's eventual conservatorship, Julianne said she was aghast that the star was still working.
"She had her well publicised breakdown and then when I saw her on X Factor or whatever show she was doing, it was like the lights were on but nobody was home,” she said.
"And I was like, "That's not Britney." And I thought, "God, if somebody just had a complete mental breakdown, why the f*** are they going back to work?" She didn't look like herself ever again after that happened.
"I am friends with people that have worked with Britney throughout the conservatorship and the stories I've heard are crazy. She couldn’t have coffee. They would bug her room."
Now Britney's conservatorship has ended, Julianne says she's delighted the star has her freedom again and is hoping the star will finally find peace again.
Julianne is now starring in new reality show, "Blowing LA," about the luxury hairstylists behind some of the biggest Hollywood stars, as well as having written a novel - Pop Tart - drawing on her experiences.
Blowing La launches on 7th December on Paramount +
