Britney Spears 'annoyed' after fans call police to her home as she deletes her Instagram

Britney Spears was left "annoyed" after police turned up at her home to check on her welfare following growing concern from fans, according to reports.

The singer's followers became worried when they spotted she had taken down her Instagram account, which is followed by millions of users around the world.

Following the takedown, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office received calls from alarmed fans and responded by paying a visit to Britney's home to see if she was okay.

Law enforcement sources said that there was "no reason to believe she was in danger" following the visit.

While the 41-year-old understands how much her fans care for her well-being, the police check is said to have been an "inconvenience" to her.

Sources close to Britney told TMZ that the she was "annoyed" by the "unexpected" welfare check.

Britney has yet to address the incident publicly, and has not returned to social media.

Fan concern for the star comes after Britney admitted "she's learning" and shared a video as she got a "regretful" tattoo.

The singer also told fans she had changed her name on Instagram to River Red.

"River red ?? Britney honey what's going on," one fan asked. Another commented: "So cryptic."

Prior to deactivating her account, Britney took to the platform on Wednesday to share one last post.

In it, she wrote: "It gets better because that's what I aim for!!!"

Finishing her final post, Britney wrote: "Keep talking s**t or maybe it will just rain from the sky!!! Giving someone I love my everything only gives me the dagger in the heart!!!

"So at this point... I generously serve you my s**t... eat my s**t."

When Britney last deleted her account in December, her husband Sam Asghari warned fans to be wary of being 'overprotective' of her.

He wrote: "Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it's good to take a break. She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times.

"Thank you to all of her protective fans," he wrote amid fears from fans that Britney isn't in control of her own social media accounts.

He added: "Out of respect for her privacy I don't post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do."
