Britney Spears and Sam Asghari reportedly ditched tradition and treated guests at their star-studded wedding to a ‘cocktail hour’ instead of a sit-down meal.
The newlyweds tied the knot on Thursday, and opted for a more relaxed vibe at their intimate nuptials, which took place at the singer’s Los Angeles home.
Britney and Sam, who got engaged in September last year, invited famous faces including Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez and Madonna to the nuptials, and avoided treating guests to the traditional wedding breakfast which is usually served after the ceremony.
According to People , they threw guests a “welcome cocktail hour” in the courtyard of her $7.4million mansion in Thousand Oaks, after exchanging vows, and some of the couple’s favourite comfort food - including popcorn and truffle fries - was served up to hungry guests.
The enclosed area was covered with light pink umbrellas, a source told the outlet, and the courtyard and fountain “were adorned with peonies and roses”.
Just 60 guests attended the bash, and after sipping on cocktails and nibbling delicious food, they were invited to watch the sunset, surrounded by string lights, with cream couches available for people to relax on.
Attendees partied in a huge pink tent in the grounds of Britney’s home, and when the bash finished at around 11.30pm, the Toxic hitmaker and her new husband were whisked away in a white Rolls Royce with a ‘Just Married’ sign on the back.
Inside the ceremony, guests were seated on traditional church pews, as the couple became husband and wife underneath a huge floral archway, with Britney’s dress - which was designed by fashion icon Donatella Versace - taking centre stage.
The mum-of-two first met stuntman and actor Sam in October 2016 on the set of her Slumber Party music video, when he was cast as her love interest.
Britney told Vogue she found his number in her bag a few months later, and they quickly became an item, going public with their romance in 2017.
They got engaged in September last year, when Sam popped the question with a 4-carat diamond ring, and in April, Britney announced she was expecting the couple’s first child.
Sadly, one month later, the singer revealed she had miscarried, but insisted that she and Sam would be focusing on expanding their family.
