British travellers to Gibraltar will have to show their passports to Spanish border guards to gain entry, following the publication of a deal with the EU to remove checks at the land border with Spain.
Spain will also be able to veto the entry and refuse residency permits on security grounds, under the agreement which ends almost a decade of uncertainty for the British overseas territory since the Brexit referendum.
