A British tourist has been rushed to hospital "seriously injured" after plunging from the second-floor of his hotel in Majorca.
The 25-year-old suffered multiple injuries including several broken bones in the 13ft plunge from the hotel in the resort of Ca'n Picafort on Majorca’s north-eastern coast in the bay of Alcudia.
The emergency services were alerted around 12.30am this morning. The hotel where the incident occurred has been named as the three-star Haiti Hotel.
The injured Brit was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma where he is understood to have been admitted to intensive care.
Health sources said his multiple injuries included a broken pelvis and broken legs.
One said: "He was very serious when he was taken away in an ambulance from the scene.
"He fell from a second-floor balcony and his multiple injuries included a broken pelvis as well as broken legs.
"He was stabilised at the scene before being taken to Son Espases Hospital."
Unconfirmed local reports pointed to him consuming drugs before he went over the edge of a second-floor balcony.
Last Tuesday a 35-year-old man died after plunging from a second-floor balcony in the Ibizan resort of San Antonio.
Police sources said drugs were found in his room during a subsequent search and officers are working on the theory he may have been acting under the influence of drugs.
After he died it emerged the same man had cheated death in a 30-foot fall in the same resort nearly five years ago.
He ended up impaled on the pole of a sun umbrella in a near-tragedy in September 2018.
Horrific photos taken at the time showed the parasol deeply embedded in his leg.
On June 23 amateur footballer John McKenna, 22, from Carlisle in Cumbria, died in the same resort after plunging from a three-star hotel.
He was pronounced dead at the scene following desperate attempts by paramedics to save him.
Pal and former Carlisle United player Josh Dixon admitted in a tribute at the time he was “heartbroken”, writing in a social media tribute: “Absolutely heartbroken writing this.
“One of my closest mates all the way through school.
“Wherever you went you would put a smile on someone’s face. Will be a huge miss to us all. Rest easy big man.”
Another friend, Olly Doyle, added of John, known as 'big John': “A true gent and the most genuinely nice lad around.
“Never a smile off his face, one of the best. Rest easy big man.”
Electrician John, who was staying at the azuline Hotel Llevant where the tragedy happened, played for Carlisle City Sunday League Premier side Scotby FC.
The club said in a tweet after learning of John’s death: “Today we lost a legend, a brilliant player but an even better person.
