A British tourist died after being struck by helicopter blades during a freak accident in Greece, according to reports.

Jack Fenton, 21, was hit and killed by the propellor after disembarking from a chartered flight from the island of Mykonos to Spata, near Athens.

He was reportedly travelling alongside a group of British tourists that included his parents and sister.

Two of the British men walked to the back of the aircraft where the man was fatally injured after being hit by the tail rotor, reports said.

Greek authorities are investigating how the man came into contact with the rotor blades.

The victim was in a Bell 407 helicopter with other passengers which landed at a helipad close to the airport, while his parents were in the second helicopter.

A police source told The Sun: “We are talking about a tragedy – an unprecedented tragedy that never should have happened.

“The cause is being investigated but it remains unclear why this happened or was allowed to happen when rotor blades pose such an obvious danger.”

The second helicopter was following and had not yet landed when the accident occurred.

The pilot of the second helicopter then chose to land at a different helipad to spare the man’s parents the horrifying scene unfolding nearby, reports claim.

The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.

Mr Fenton studied Sports Studies at Oxford Brookes University from 2018 to 2021.

He attended the £36,000 per year Sutton Valence School in Maidstone, Kent.
