Rising British talents C.J Beckford and Maisie Richardson-Sellers are set to star in the upcoming feature film 'Run.' Directed by Bernard Kurdieh and produced by Rashomon Films, the movie was filmed in 2022 under COVID-19 restrictions.
'Run' is described as a social impact feature film aimed at sparking conversations about mental health and breaking down the stigma associated with the issue. The film delves into the challenges faced by creatives in finding their voice and navigating personal relationships that can either support or hinder their artistic journey.
The storyline of 'Run' explores the intricate link between mental health and creativity, focusing on the protagonist's struggles with the pressure to produce exceptional work and the emotional toll it takes. The film also delves into the complexities of relationships, portraying a breakup without clear villains, aiming to present a narrative that blends raw authenticity with elements of magic realism on a profound emotional level.
Producer Amir Rashidian emphasized the personal connection the cast and crew felt to the film's subject matter, as many had either experienced mental health issues themselves or had loved ones who had. Despite facing financial and time constraints, this shared connection motivated the team to create a poignant and impactful film.
Kurdieh is currently working on a series of projects with Rashomon Films that aim to explore various aspects of the human condition. 'Run' is scheduled to premiere during the U.K.'s Mental Health Awareness Week in May, with an online release to follow shortly after.
