The United Kingdom's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed that British Royal Air Force (RAF) jets successfully intercepted and shot down a number of Iranian attack drones that were launched overnight towards Israel. The incident occurred as part of the RAF's ongoing operations to counter ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
Prime Minister Sunak revealed that additional RAF planes were deployed to the region in response to the Iranian threat. He stated that the decision to engage the Iranian drones was made following an emergency meeting of the UK's crisis management committee, which took place on Friday to strategize a plan of action in case of an Iranian attack.
Sunak praised the effectiveness of the 'international coordinated' response to the Iranian aggression, emphasizing that the swift action not only protected lives in Israel but also in neighboring countries like Jordan.
