The 2026 British Grand Prix takes place at Silverstone today, with Kimi Antonelli on pole position.
The title leader bested home favourite Lewis Hamilton in Saturday’s exciting sprint race to extend his championship advantage over Mercedes team-mate George Russell to 43 points, and leave Hamilton now 47 points off the pace.
Antonelli then secured pole position for the grand prix later in the day, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. It is an all-British second row, with Hamilton in third and Russell starting in fourth.
Hamilton insists he is not thinking about winning a record eighth F1 drivers’ crown, but will surely have his sights set on another home victory this afternoon. His nine victories in the British Grand Prix are a record for any driver at a single race.
Russell and his fellow Brit, reigning world champion Lando Norris, will have similar designs on the podium. The McLaren driver will start in sixth, behind the Red Bull of Isack Hadjar and just ahead of Max Verstappen.
