British father-of-two named as another victim of Hamas attack as Sunak meets victims' families

British-Israeli national Yonatan Rapoport has been confirmed as dead after being killed by Hamas.

Mr Rapaport, known as Yoni, was killed in the attack on Kibbutz Be’eri on 7 October.

The Manchester United family had two children, Yosefi and Aluma.

He had planned to take his son to Old Trafford next month, for his son's first game there.

At least eight British nationals were killed in the Hamas attacks. The UK government said last night that nine remain missing.

Meanwhile Rishi Sunak arrived in Israel on Thursday and has met some of the families of victims of the 7 October attack.

He met Israeli President Isaac Herzog and photographs from the visit show Mr Sunak meeting families of those who have been taken hostage.

He has also met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As he arrived, Sunak pledged to stand with Israel and said Israelis had suffered a "horrific act of terrorism". He is also expected to use the trip to press for humanitarian aid in Gaza.

He told Israel President Isaac Herzog he had “not just a right” but a “duty” to “restore security to your country”.

Following a meeting with the head of state, the Prime Minister said: “We will stand with you in solidarity with your people and your right to defend yourself to bring security back to your country, to your people, to ensure the safe return of the hostages that have been taken and I know we will talk further about that later on.”

He added: “You have not just a right to do that, I think you have a duty to do that, to restore that security to your country.”

President Herzog expressed his gratitude to Rishi Sunak for “your support and your decisions and your leadership”.

“We are extremely grateful to you, Prime Minister, for your support and your decisions and your leadership,” he said as the two met in Israel.

He said the military capabilities of “an empire of evil led by Tehran” must be uprooted so that Israelis can “live in peace with our Palestinian neighbours.”
