British duo Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat's mixed curling campaign ended in heartbreak after they were thrashed 9-3 in their bronze-medal match by Sweden.
After defeat to Norway in the semi-final, the British pairing would have been desperate to leave together as bronze medallists, but they never looked like hurting Sweden.
Sweden weren't at the races against Italy in their semi-final but Oskar Eriksson and Almida De Val were in formidable form against Great Britain.
And after their medal hopes were dashed, Dodds and Mouat conceded they weren't at it from the off, and ruthless Sweden were there to capitalise on their sluggish start.
Mouat, speaking to BBC One, admitted: "It got off to a bad start and that punished us the most and we had to fight back from there. Almida [de Val] made a really good shot for four which fair play to her in such a game to make those shots I bet it's a great feeling for her.
"We're going to have to console ourselves because we're got a big week with both of our teams. We're both ready for that but, it's a quick turnaround for tomorrow anyway."
Dodds added: "I don't think either of them made a mistake - the only thing I can think of is that Oscar [Eriksson] made that run back at the end and that was it. It's hard to fight back when your opposition is playing that well. Congratulations to them for winning the bronze they played amazing today."
Dodds and Mouat did manage to take the 1-0 lead after the first end but Sweden soon after took complete control.
Eriksson then showed why he is considered one of the best in the world by producing a wonderful take out near the death of the second end.
And De Val was on hand to finish off the second end - with Sweden soon taking a commanding 4-1 lead. And Britain couldn't come back from there, performing nervily during the third end too.
They soon found themselves staring down a 7-1 deficit and it was going to take some recovery from Mouat and Dodds to walk away with bronze from here.
De Val was out-throwing Dodds during the bronze medal match, and that was making a big difference as the British duo struggled to turn the momentum in their favour.
Eriksson landed a blow to British hopes during the fourth end, clearing away two stones which subsequently led to Sweden extending their advantage to 8-1 after Dodds sent down the last stone at pace which couldn't do any damage.
It was soon 9-1 with Sweden bossing proceedings, and with the deficit too large, Dodds and Mouat slide over to their counterparts to concede defeat.
