Rob Magowan, the deputy chief of the British defense staff, stated that the British Army would be prepared to fight against a potential Russian invasion of eastern Europe at a moment's notice.
Magowan's remarks followed reports of a missile launch by Russia, which was described as a nuclear-capable ballistic missile targeting Dnipro, Ukraine. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin later clarified in a televised statement that the missile in question was a new medium-range ballistic missile that did not possess nuclear capabilities.
