Firefighters rushed to douse a British Airways flight after it caught on fire on the tarmac at Copenhagen Airport.

Passengers and crew on board the BA820 were quickly evacuated and no one was injured on Wednesday, local police said.

The flight had just arrived in the Danish city from London.

Photos and videos of the ordeal show a number of emergency services arriving on motorbikes and hosing down the plane with white foam.

“A fire erupted in an engine of a passenger jet that was stopped at the gate. Fire is out. Passengers evacuated. No one injured,” police said.

British Airines said all customers and crew disembarked the BA820 safely.

“We would never operate an aircraft unless it was safe to do so,” the airline said.

The return flight to London was cancelled.

Meanwhile, a planned strike involving British Airways check-in staff at Heathrow airport has been suspended after the company made an improved pay offer, unions said on Thursday.
