British Airways has dramatically increased their flight prices over the Easter school holidays in what is thought to be an attempt to discourage people from booking while the aviation industry struggles with a number of issues. An economy flight from Manchester to London this week costs a staggering £429, for comparison you can purchase a train ticket for as little as £30.
The prices are being listed until Easter Monday (April 18), the end of the school holidays. Passenger levels this weekend are expected to be at their highest since pre-Covid, as more European countries relax their restrictions, reports Manchester Evening News.
This comes amid continuing chaos at Manchester airport with airliner Easyjet cancelling several flights over the weekend. Bosses last month warned passengers could face queues for ‘several weeks’ after admitting they are struggling with staff shortages. Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said they have also struggled with the easing of restrictions as well as a large number of bags being rejected at security.
