Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn CANCELS ITV interview amid booing controversy

Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn has pulled out of his daytime TV appearance - days after being booed at the show's final.

The comedian was expected to give his first interview since his frosty reception to bagging the £250,000 prize on the Lorraine Kelly Show on Tuesday, but cancelled at the last minute.

Fans had been expecting the high-vis wearing Norwegian to appear alongside Lorraine in the studio to chat about his dramatic win.

However, Lorraine was forced to make her excuses for the performer when he declined to appear.

Lorraine's official Twitter page tweeted on Monday afternoon: "SO excited to say @ViggoVenn is joining @reallorraine live for his first TV interview tomorrow morning."

However, the Scottish presenter confirmed Viggo was no longer able to make his scheduled appearance as he wasn't "feeling well" but hopefully claimed she would "see him later on".

"Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning but unfortunately he's feeling too chipper but hopefully we'll see him later on," Lorraine said before adding that he "needs a wee rest" as he showcased a lot of "energy" during the final.

The Britain's Got Talent winner was at the centre of a backlash storm after his win was booed by some members of the live audience during the final on Sunday.

The hi-vis-wearing comedian was visibly shocked when his name was called out by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Viggo saw off stiff competition from dancer Lillianna Clifton and magician Cillian O'Connor to take the top prize.

After the verdict, Britain's Got Talent viewers watching the final at home picked up on the booing and took to Twitter to comment.

One tweeted: "Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023 #bgt."

Another tweeted: "Sounded like a lot of boos there when #ViggoVenn was announced as the winner of #BritainsGotTalent. I thought he was great but a shock omissions from the final 3, and I think everyone thought the young lad would win. Bit of a deflated, down-beat end to the series #BGT2023 #BGT."

"Did you hear them boo’s on @BGT? Quite right too, ridiculous. So much more talent in that final tonight. #BGT2023 should not have made the live shows. Poor winner," a third commented and another raged: "NEVER EVER EVER EVER watching @BGT #BritainsGotTalent again. absolute shambles‼️ a guy running about in a high vis vest over so much proper genuine real talent? the boos in that audience, shocked faces and genuine tears said it all for me‼️ SHAMBLES."
