Britain's Got Talent: When is the first semi-final and who is competing?

The Britain's Got Talent semi-final week is a regular addition to the TV calendar and that time has almost come round again. After weeks of auditions, the judges have finally made their decision on who they think has what it takes to perform in front of royalty. With a huge array of talent shown over the last couple of weeks, it is now time for the general public to choose their winner.

The semi-finals, which will run every night this week ahead of the finals this weekend, will pit the judges' favourite contestants against each other in a bid to show Her Maj what they can do at the Royal Variety Performance. But when is the first semi-final and where can you watch it?

When is BGT's first semi-final?

The long-awaited first Britain's Got Talent semi-final is on at 8pm on Monday, May 30.

In a schedule shakeup ( which you can read about here ), Coronation Street will only air a half-an-hour episode as opposed to its usual hour-long edition.

Who is competing in the first semi-final?

Mel Day

77-year-old Mel, who performed the Wilson Pickett classic Land Of A Thousand Dances at his audition, was told by Simon: "Maybe this is your time now." But can he do enough to make it through to the final?

London Community Gospel Choir

London Community Gospel Choir performed a medley of Love Train by The O’Jays and Anytime You Need a Friend by Mariah Carey at their audition. Alesha Dixon said of their performance: "It was just so powerful, beautiful and uplifting; you are all incredible".

Jamie Leahey

Dapper schoolboy Jamie, 13, performed a comedy ventriloquism act with his puppet - Chuck. David Walliams told him that it was "absolutely wonderful" but will the general public get behind him?

Maxwell Thorpe

Maxwell, a 32-year-old busker from Sheffield, stunned judges with his operatic voice when he sang Caruso. "You're so shy and quiet and then that happened," said Simon Cowell following the audition.

Suzi Wild

34-year-old impressionist, Suzi Wild from London, performed comedy impressions of the Queen, Janet Street Porter, Lorraine, Gemma Collins, Kirstie Allsop and more at her first audition. Will Suzi get the chance to showcase her version of 'The Queen' to the actual Queen?
