Britain's Got Talent semi-finals week is well underway, and it's been a week of child singers, card magicians, and men pulling jeeps with the judges on board. But tonight (Thursday) it seemed like the air had gone out of the programme.
Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli have 'oohed' and 'aahed' over their favourites. They have backed the Golden Buzzer acts and handed out generous compliments.
But if BGT viewers had their say, there wouldn't be anyone going through to the grand final on Saturday, June 3 from tonight's (June 1) heat. The acts on tonight's show were dancer Felix Clements, singer Noodle, singing group Boycanto, beatboxer MB14, magician Kimoon Do, theatre group Chickenshed, acrobats Duo Odyssey and singer Malakai Bayoh.
And despite three Golden Buzzer acts - MB14 were Ant and Dec's, Chickenshed were Alesha's and Malakai Bayoh was Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer act - viewers were unconvinced of the quality onstage.
The Hon John Bramall of Saddleworth FBPE @guyfoxy said on Twitter: "#BritainsGotTalent this is IMO the poorest heat so far none have had any star quality."
Robbie Sewell @RobbieSewell1 added somewhat more fiercely: "What the f*ck is this semi final #BGT #BritainsGotTalent"
Jenny-Rose @ghostheart__ was almost won over, but not quite, tweeting: "Worst semi-final so far, absolutely dire, apart from the cat, that turned out to be a massive swizz #BritainsGotTalent"
Clive Wright @mistermemoryman was adamant in his tweet: "Worst semi-final so far #britainsgottalent"
And Chris @ChrisMurraycl1 tweeted in the internationally recognised language of emojis: "Whoever picks the acts to get in the semifinals need to be sacked what a loads of [poo emoji] #BritainsGotTalent"
Britain's Got Talent continues on Friday, June 2 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
