Britain's Got Talent's Dec Donnelly 'rescues' Simon Cowell as judge targeted by act

Dec Donnelly had some sympathy for Simon Cowell on Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent, when the host was the unwanted target of a prank staged by a very familiar face.

With just Ant and Dec left to hit their Golden Buzzer, the audition rounds of the ITV show's new series continued this weekend, as the opening of BGT was changed to honour King Charles III, on the of his Coronation.

More hopefuls stepped onto the London Palladium stage in a bid to try and impress the Britain's Got Talent judges and a shock contender amongst them was Mr Blobby, the 90s TV icon who shot to fame on BBC primetime show Noel's House Party.

Famous for causing no end of chaos, as well as beating Take That to Christmas number 1, Mr Blobby arrived at the BGT auditions, on the premise he was doing a magic act, as host Ant McPartlin issued a plea to get Simon on stage.

And that's exactly what happened as the no nonsense judge became Mr Blobby's victim, for a 'vanishing' trick which turned out to be something very different, as the box Simon was sat in opened for a final time as gunge fell all over him.

The stunt left Simon's fellow judges in fits of laughter, with the audience lapping it up too, as the gunge just kept coming and coming.

Ending up feeling slightly sorry for Simon as he attempted to make it off stage and back down to the panel, Dec arrived from the wings, handing him some towels and telling him: "Be careful, it's slippy," as, taking in the sight in front of hi, Bruno Tonioli reacted: "Oh my god," as Simon, gesturing towards his colleagues, asked: "Did you know this was going to happen."

After all of that commotion, Ant and Dec ended up pressing their Golden Buzzer for the final act of the night, musician MB14.
